Hi, my name is Emerson and I'm a senior Mechanical Engineering/Game Design student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In my spare time, I played trombone in the UW marching band, watch/play football (go Commanders!), compete in Super Smash Bros tournaments, and play both board games and video games. Some of my favorite video games of all time include Super Smash Bros (Ultimate and Melee), Team Fortress 2, XCOM (Enemy Unknown or XCOM 2), and Slay the Spire, and my favorite card/board games are Magic: the Gathering, King of Tokyo, Betrayal at House on the Hill, and Bananagrams.
As a game designer, I like to design narrative based games, as well as puzzle/strategy games. My favorite types of games to design are narrative based ones, especially ones that play with the boundary between the game and real life. However, I also find puzzle games and strategy games interesting and enjoyable to design, with my favorite aspect being creating synergies and combos between cards. Some good games to play to get a sense of my design preferences are my games Tune Tycoon and Caught in the Crossfire
My best game design skills currently are writing/narrative work and system design. I have a decent amount of coding experience, as well as some basic experience in 3D modeling and sound design. I hope to learn more about all aspects of game design as my design career progresses, and look forward to all the games I will make along the way!
